We’re so glad you’re here!

The River Church is a gathering of regular people seeking to worship God, know Him more deeply, and grow more and more into the likeness of Jesus Christ. We want to be a channel for the life-giving Spirit of God flowing into our community and our world as the gospel is shared and disciples are made.

A Brief History of The River Church at Valley Brook

Our church was planted in 1957 as Valley Brook Baptist Church with the original purpose of reaching North Decatur with the gospel. The church experienced many years of faithful ministry, but in later years found the challenge of reaching a rapidly changing community to be increasingly difficult. Desiring to reach their neighbors, and to see God begin a new work on the foundations of the church’s missional legacy, the congregation voted to replant the church in 2022. This began a process of transformation and the church changed its name to The River Church at Valley Brook the Summer of 2023.  Having a renewed vision for gospel advance, the church is set to be a gospel presence in North Decatur for years to come.

“…there will be life wherever the river goes.
